Membership in Colorado State RACES is restricted to FCC licensed Amateur Radio Operators who have completed (or will complete the following qualifications within 6 months of registration)

ICS courses IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700
and pass a background investigation which is handled by State RACES or your local county SO.

Other than the Public sections you will not be able to access certain internal

areas of this news server unless you are in the Colorado State RACES database ( i.e. registered with the state ).

Membership in RACES does have requirements... you need to clear a background check and also have certificates for IS-100,200,700 ( which can be completed on line ). You have 6 months after registration to complete the requirements. The ICS requirements can normally be completed, on line, over a weekend.

If you are also interested in service at the State EOC in Denver, there are a few additional qualifications

such as IS-800, RADO, and classroom ICS-200. Training is offered at various times and locations.

ARES membership is not a requirement for RACES registration but if you are serious about public safety

and public service communications, both ARES and RACES have unique advantages under certain conditions.

The RACES registration process is very simple... if you are interested just download our current registration

form ( included with this message ). Then just follow the directions on the form to email, mail or fax the

form in for review.

You will find that RACES members take emergency communications very seriously and the state recognizes

our efforts. For example, RACES members at the State Emergency Operations center are responsible for all

RF communications in and out of that facility. We not only handle amateur comm, but also State DTR comm, FEMA comm and other local agency comm at the SEOC.

UTE BUTTE PROJECT

I want to send out my sincerest thank-you to the following people that 
assisted on last Saturday for all the help in rebuilding the Ute Butte 
site.   Without you all, we could not have finished what we did to bring 
Ute back to a very reliable part of our system.
